Today

Cold today, patchy frost in some northern and eastern areas at first.

Cloudy with occasional rain over the western half of the country this morning, but mostly dry in eastern areas for a time. However the rain will extend to all areas by early afternoon and turn heavy in places. A clearance to scattered showers will follow eastwards this evening.

Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees and becoming breezy this afternoon in a freshening southerly wind.

Tonight

Cold tonight with frost and ice developing.

Scattered wintry showers will mostly affect western areas at first and many other places will be dry and clear.

However a showery band of rain, sleet and snow will spread southwards over Ulster and north Leinster later in the night with some accumulations in places.

Lowest temperatures of 0 to -2 degrees.
