A status yellow wind warning is to remain in place across the country until 6.00pm today.

Met Éireann says west to northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, with gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h today.

It follows earlier weather warnings for snow and ice - which have now been stood down.

Snow has been reported on higher ground in areas of Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

Forecaster with Met Éireann, Siobhán Ryan, says Storm Jake has brought with it wintry conditions.
