Chinese manufacturer Huawei are back with a reasonably priced, feature heavy smartphone
Huawei is now well established in Ireland and is the fastest growing smartphone brand in the country. In recent years, we’ve seen their range of phones expand and impress across the board.
The device looks like a cross between the HTC One M8 and a Samsung S5, with a 90% aluminium body. The slightly curved back ensures the phone sits comfortably in the hand, even though the device itself is quite large.
One of the standout features on this device is the fingerprint reader placed on the back of the device. The company boast an unlock speed of just 0.5 seconds with a 94% rate of scanning accuracy. The placement of the reader on the back makes perfect sense from the user’s point of view. As well as the unlocking powers, the small panel on the back of the phone allows users to navigate through certain functions including accessing the notification panel and answering calls.
The camera on Huawei’s high-end devices have impressed and this mid-range phone continues that trend. The 13MP, 28mm wide-angle lens shoots beautiful images and the 5MP front camera is great for selfies and video calls. The rear camera also has ultra-low light capabilities, ensuring the perfect picture is captured.
Twice as nice
While their smartphones are only gaining popularity in Ireland in the last number of years, Huawei has been key players in the world of technology for quite a long time. They have placed two antennas within the GX8 providing extra connectivity. The dual antenna smart-switch eliminates the chance of signal drop out.
