Officer in his 30s was attacked in south Dublin on Sunday
A garda in his 30s remains in a serious condition after he was assaulted by a group of men in Dublin, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at around 6am on Sunday in Ballinteer.
The garda and his colleague were giving chase to two men after a suspected stolen car was abandoned in Ballinteer.
It is understood a number of men came out of a house and began to attack the officer.
The garda was taken to St James' Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Two men aged 18 and 20 were arrested a short time later.
The men will appear in Dun Laoghaire District court next month.
