There's a green invasion of LA this weekend, as Hollywood prepares for the biggest date on its calendar. The Oscars awards ceremony takes place on Sunday.

A big Irish pre-Oscar party was held overnight in LA - the 11th US-Ireland Oscar Wilde Awards.

This year they honoured many great Irish actors and performers including Oscar nominee Lenny Abrahamson and Rebellion star Sarah Greene.

Trina Vargo, founder of the US-Ireland Alliance said the turnout at last nights event from both Ireland and Holywood was impressive:

Other Irish nominees includes Saoirse Ronan for Best Actress in Brooklyn, along with Kerry's Michael Fassbender for Best Actor in Steve Jobs.

Lenny Abrahamson's Room faces stiff competition from Brooklyn in the Best Picture category.

Meanwhile, Dubliner Benjamin Cleary's nominated for his short film Stutterer - he told Today FM's Anton Savage Show it is an honour to be in such company:
