Over 40,000 Syrians flee latest Russian airstrikes

Turkish Prime Minister has said 70,000 displaced people are making their way to his border

Tens of thousands of Syrian refugees are moving towards Turkey's border as they flee heavy fighting near Aleppo.

The Turkish Prime Minister said up to 70,000 may be travelling to his border, while a monitoring group put the number at about 40,000.

Yesterday, world leaders pledged some €9 billion to tackle the Syrian refugee crisis at a conference in London.

Ireland pledged €20 million, which brings our total support to €62 million.
