Former Xtravision-HMV employees picket outside Dublin store

580 people were made redundant this week

Former employees of Xtravision-HMV are holding a picket outside a HMV store on Henry St Dublin city.

The company went into liquidation on Wednesday with the loss of 580 jobs in around 80 stores.

The workers report that 30 of these stores were given prior notice that the shops would close at the end of January.

Phil, who worked in Xtra-vision in the Carlow branch for eight years, says he was given no indication before Wednesday that the shop was to close.

He says he hasn't yet recieved his P45 to claim statutory redundancy or social welfare:
