Man arrested following armed raid on Kerry petrol station

Gardaí recovered money, a hatchet and clothing after a search

A man in aged his 40s has been arrested in Co Kerry after the robbery of a petrol station in Tralee last night.

At around 8.20pm yesterday evening, a man armed with a hatchet entered the petrol station at Rathass.

He threatened staff, stole cash and made off on foot across Rathass Graveyard.

Gardaí later arrested a man fitting his description close to Fountain Court in Tralee.

They also recovered money, a hatchet and clothing after seaching the area.

A man is currently detained at Tralee garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
