Wind warnings issued for every county, as Storm Gertrude approaches

Winds are forecast to gust up to 130 km/h at times

Met Éireann has issued two national weather warnings in preparation for Storm Gertrude.

It says the storm will bring severe winds to Ireland and the UK overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.

An orange wind warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

It says southwest winds of 65 to 80 km/h are forecast overnight - gusting to 130 km/h at times.

The strongest winds will mainly be in northern and western coastal areas.

While a yellow wind warning is in place for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, Limerick and Tipperary.

Met Éireann says southwest winds veering westerly will increase 50 to 65 km/h overnight, and will gust up to 110 km/h at times.

Both warnings are in place from Friday.
