Over 3,200 primary schools across Ireland will be presented with the National Flag and a copy of the Proclamation as part of the '2016 Centenary Programme'.

Members of the Defence Forces - including the army, navy and the air corp - will hold the 'Flags for Schools'’ ceremonies as part of the State programme to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Members of the Irish Air Corp travelled to Aranmore Island and Tory Island off the coast of county Donegal this week - where they presented students at Soil Aphóirt, Scoil Árainn Mhór and Scoil Náisiúnta, Tory with their 1916 packs.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronan Verling from the Irish Air Corps explains.

A national flag raising ceremony will take place on Proclamation Day, Tuesday March 15th.
