Mostly cloudy today with scattered showers, some heavy and prolonged in eastern counties. However, drier and locally brighter conditions will develop in the west this afternoon.

Highest temperatures 6 to 9 degrees.

Winds will be mainly moderate in strength, varying from northeasterly in northern areas to northwesterly further south, although winds will strengthen at times in coastal districts.

Showers or longer outbreaks of rain will continue for a time early tonight in eastern counties. However, dry conditions elsewhere will soon spread countrywide and cloud will tend to break as the night goes on.

Winds will slacken tonight also and it will become colder.

Lowest temperatures +2 to -2 degrees, resulting in widespread sharp ground frost and icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Later in the night, cloud will increase again in southwestern areas.
