President Higgins signs International Protection Bill into law

A bill to overhaul the asylum system has been signed into law by President Higgins.

The International Protection Act will now become law, after the President yesterday summoned the Council of State to discuss its legality.

Man dies after shooting outside Dublin pub

A man in his 30s has died after being shot in the car park of a pub in Dublin. 

He was shot and seriously injured in the rear car park of Cumiskey's Pub on Blackhorse Avenue shortly after 5.30pm today.

1,000 homes will remain without power through the night

About 1,000 homes and businesses nationwide will be without power overnight as ESB crews try to restore power to areas hit by Storm Frank.

It could be a number of days before power is restored to parts of Cork, Wexford and Wicklow.
