The Right2Water Campaign is planning a mass protest next month.

The group is calling for water to be paid for through general taxation, rather than the current charge system.

Right2Water says it will also be stepping up its campaign ahead of the general election.

The Right2Water campaign includes political parties, community groups and six trade unions - including the CPSU, CWU, Mandate, OPATSI, TEEU and Unite.

Right2Water has so far hosted five demonstrations.

January 23rd will be the sixth demonstration- but Right2Water said there would be another one immediately ahead of the general election.

Spokesman Brendan Ogle told Newstalk Lunchtime the demonstration is planned for every constituency across the country.
