A man arrested over the murder of a father in Derry nine years ago has been released on bail.

Paul McCauley (38) was left brain damaged after he was assaulted in the summer of 2006 on the Chapel Road in Derry.

The police launched a murder inquiry when he died from his injuries last June.

More than a dozen people have been arrested so far - with one person charged with murder and another reported to the Public Prosecution Service.

The latest man to be arrested is a 28-year-old from Belfast - police have granted him bail pending further enquiries.
