An experiment on what we really know about the Bible's goriest passages has some revealing results
The Quran has been getting a lot of attention lately, with each terrorist atrocity committed by an Islamic group inevitably leading to questions about the holy book of the religion, an the compatibility of its teachings with Western society.
Generally those wishing to argue against the potential for Islam's compatibility with liberal democratic societies point to some choice passages that argue brutal practices.
But what about the Bible?
To test the general depth of knowledge about religious scripture among the general population a Dutch YouTube duo, Dit Is Normaal, decided to see how much people knew about the Quran and the Bible, by reading passage of the Bible to passers-by - but telling them they were from the Quran and then asking their opinions on the text.
The people spoken to responded as you might expect, saying things such as: “If you've been raised with this book and these kinds of thoughts it's going to influence the way you think.”
