Dublin's most expensive area to rent in has been revealed

Dublin’s Spencer Dock has been revealed as the most expensive area to rent in, according to a price survey along the city's rail lines.

Average rent in the area in North Wall which sits next to the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and across the Liffey from Grand Canal Dock is over €1,800 a month.

Group E is the one group Ireland need to avoid in this weekend's Euro 2016 draw

The focus of the Irish footballing public will be on the Palais des Congres in Paris for the Euro 2016 draw.

24 teams including Ireland will be involved in the draw, which will see those who have qualified broken down into six groups of four teams. It is the first time that more than two teams from a group will qualify for the knock out stages with the four best third placed teams reaching the Last 16 along with top two in all six groups.

Last night former Fine Gael councillor Hugh McElvaney, from Monaghan, was shown on RTE asking for £10,000 in exchange for aiding a developer get planning permission to build wind farms.

The report - part of RTE's ‘Standards in Public Life’ investigation that showed a number of politicians engaged in similar behaviour - has understandably caused outrage over the conduct of public officials, with debate raging over punishment and prevention of rogue politicians in Irish political life.

Eleven dogs rescued from 'squalor' conditions in Co Tipperary

Eleven dogs have been rescued by the ISPCA after living in unsuitable conditions at a property in Tipperary.

Many of the dogs - including seven puppies - had no access to water, food or adequate shelter, and were living in muddy conditions.

One of the female German shepherd dogs was discovered with a heavy chain attached to her, which had begun to embed itself into her neck.

There was also a heavily pregnant German shepherd found tied to a tractor with no shelter and no access to water.

Five puppies were discovered confined to a run with no food or water, and had minimal access to shelter.

BBC presenter calls Tyson Fury a "d**khead" live on air

Given his public utterances, Tyson Fury's inclusion on the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year has generated controversy. 

It has also led to a petition calling for him to be removed in the wake of comments deemed homophobic and sexist that he has made.

Last night, the BBC News Channel debated the controversy surrounding the newly-crowned world heavyweight boxing champion and prefacing that it was after the watershed, presenter Clive Myrie made the point that one "cannot be a dickhead and win the Sports Personality of the Year" with journalist Miranda Green agreeing with him.
