Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy appeared on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports this week and the topic of his now famous duet with Linda Martin came up.

The song has resurfaced thanks to the magic of the internet, and has been getting plenty of attention as the former Irish international’s formerly forgotten singing career gets a second wind.

Storm Desmond battered the country across Friday and Saturday, and RTÉ correspondent Teresa Mannion was reporting from Salthill prom as the wind and rain were in full effect. 

The various weather reports which she gave were the talk of Twitter, but YouTube user Super Ceili decided to give her updates the techno remix that they deserved. 

People of the Year awards honour Yes Equality campaign

The team behind the Yes Equality campaign have been named as the Community Group of the year at this year's People of the Year Awards.

Although the award is normally given to a smaller, local community group, the decision was taken to acknowledge a grassroots campaign that had brought several groups together to initiate a process of change to the country as a whole.

The storm has been responsible for flooding, travel delays and sporting events being cancelled, as high winds and heavy rain continue to hit Ireland. People have taken to social media to share images and videos shared from all around the country showing the effects of the storm.
