While many boys and girls dream of one day going into space, what do the people who have actually been there dream of? Astronauts lead a life of scientific adventure, but does that carry over to their unconscious minds when grabbing forty winks?

The animation below, hand-drawn by animator Andrew Khosravani, includes an interview with Helen Sharman, the first Briton to ever blast off the face of the earth. In the short, narrated by Sharman herself, the astronaut reveals how going to space has come to dominate her sleeping mind, and how she dreams of floating through the modules of the Russian Mir space station.

The video, which you can watch below, is part of a series created by the Royal Institution, under the title A Place Called Space. A beautiful short:
