Can we have faith in Irish policing?

Sarah discusses recent controversies with her panel on Talking Point

Two things are clear from the ongoing rows about the Garda Siochana: nobody knows what’s going on, and people believe the Gardaí are capable of anything.

Is it fair that the Gardaí are presumed guilty in the court of public opinion of every wild allegation leveled at them?

Sarah discussed this today with her panel. She was joined by:

  • David Langwallner, Dean of Law at Griffith College Dublin, lecturer in constitutional law at the King's Inns and Director of the Irish Innocence Project,
  • Gerry O'Regan, former editor of the Irish Independent,
  • Eunan O'Halpin, Professor of Contemporary Irish History at Trinity College Dublin.
