Murder investigation launched after man's body discovered in Co Cork

Gardaí say they have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Co Cork yesterday.

The body of John Ustic (51) was found at a house on High Street, Skibbereen yesterday morning.

A preliminary examination of the scene revealed no sign of forced entry, although there was some disarray in the house.

A post-mortem exam was carried out earlier today.

The results showed that Mr Ustic died from injuries resulting from an assault.

The death is now being treated as a murder.

Gardaí are appealing to anybody who was in the High Street area of Skibbereen on Sunday 24th September 2017 between 7.30pm and 10.30pm to contact them.
