WATCH: Do we need to scrap compulsory Irish from our secondary school?

Thomas Byrne TD, Fianna Fail’s Education Spokesperson, told Newstalk Breakfast on Thursday that he believes the Irish language should be mandatory in schools.

Dr Kevin Williams, Senior Research Fellow in the school in Education in DCU joined Paul Williams and Shane Coleman to outline his vision on the benefits of children learning a second language.

Dr Williams believes that students at second level should be given the choice as to whether they learn Irish or not.
