Labour TD Willie Penrose calls for community banks to be established in Ireland

Bank of Ireland has implemented its plans to make 100 branches across the country cashless.

The move was announced earlier in the summer and is part of a plan to create a multi-tiered system. Just 50 of their 250 branches would retain a full suite of services.

Willie Penrose TD says financial institution is running amock in its expansion of self service and the removal of cash from transactions.

The Westmeath Deputy says its time the Government backed the creation of a community bank.
