A second man in his 40s was injured in the blaze last night
A man in his 80s has died and another man has been injured in a house fire in Cork.
Emergency services attended the scene of the blaze at Knockbarry Cottages in Buttevant at around 9.30pm last night.
The fire was brought under control shortly after fire crews arrived at the scene.
The elderly man's body remains at the scene.
The second man - aged in his 40s - was transferred to Cork University Hospital, and his injuries are described as non-life threatening.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination, and Gardaí say "the circumstances of the fire are under investigation".
