WATCH: Expert Calls For More Transparency Around The Public Services Card

Dr. Rónán Kennedy of NUIG wants the card to be referred to as a National Identity Card if that is its purpose.

The Government's under continuing pressure over the roll-out of the Public Services Card.

Critics say the cards are an attempt to bring in a national identity database, but the Government insists they aren't compulsory.

Concerns have also been raised over the mandatory use of the PSC to collect state benefits.

Dr. Rónán Kennedy of NUIG outlined his concerns to Shane Coleman on Newstalk Breakfast.
