A second man has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in County Clare overnight.

A 25-year-old man died after being stabbed at the Marion Housing Estate in Kilkee in County Clare.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.15am this morning. It is believed a number of people were present at the time.

The man was removed to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead.

A 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the attack and is being held at Kilrush Garda Station.

A second man – aged in his early 20s – has now also been arrested and is also being detained at Kilrush.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the Garda Technical Bureau is due to attend.
