A man has been injured after a shooting incident in Co Meath this evening.

It happened at around 7pm, in the driveway of a house at Mill Close, Stamullen.

It is believed a lone man entered the driveway and fired a number of shots at the male driver of a car.

The injured man has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. 

Gardaí say the injured man's condition is not known.

An investigation has been launched into the shooting.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses - in particular anyone who was in the area prior to or immediately after the shooting - to contact them at Drogheda Garda Station on 041-987-4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
