Friday's weather: Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain; Highest temperatures 14 to 17 degrees

Today will start mostly cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain.

In the west and north, the rain will be persistent and heavy with the ongoing risk of thundery downpours possibly leading to localized flooding.

In the east, showery rain will clear to scattered showers with some sunny spells developing.

Top temperatures of just 14 to 17 degrees.

Winds will be mostly moderate but fresh at times and in coastal areas of the west and north winds will increase strong and gusty.

Tonight

Tonight will become mostly dry in the east and north with good clear spells.

Showery rain is likely to continue in the west and south for a time before clearing to isolated showers by morning.

Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in mostly light to moderate variable winds.
