Police said the device was left in a residential area
The PSNI has said a viable explosive device has been made safe in Belfast.
The pipebomb type device was found in Coolnasilla Park West.
It led to a security alert, with a number of residents evacuated from their homes.
Detective Inspector Paul Rowland thanked residents for their patience.
He said: "Those who left this device in a residential area clearly have no regard for the people who live here.
"I am appealing for the community’s support in identifying the perpetrators."
