A man has died after being found with serious injuries in Swords in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The man - believed to be in his 30s - was found at North Street at around 3.05am.

He was attended to by medical personnel, but was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed this morning as Gardaí and forensic teams attended the scene.

A technical examination has taken place and the body has been removed from the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between 1.30am and 3am to come forward, in particular any drivers who may have dash cam footage.

Witnesses are being asked to contact Swords Garda Station on 01-666-4700, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.

Dublin Fingal TD Darragh O'Brien said his thoughts and prayers are with the man's friends and family.

Deputy O'Brien said: “I will be closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds and will remain in regular contact with the Gardaí in Swords and Coolock.”

Local Councillor Darragh Butler says its still unclear what has happened, adding: "Hopefully the guards will be able to get to the bottom of it and figure out what happened".
