Wildfires are spreading through California’s central coast, threatening hundreds of homes.

Hundreds of people have been ordered to evacuate after searing temperatures led to dozens of blazes in the US West and Southwest.

More than 1,000 firefighters have been fighting blazes across the country.

There have been no immediate reports of fire-related deaths.

Officials said the fires were 10% contained as of Saturday afternoon.

The Truckee Fire in Nevada was one of the largest at nearly 100,000 acres in size, according to the InciWeb tracking service.

A summer camp in Santa Barbara Country was evacuated after the flames temporarily trapped about 140 staff and children.

Temperatures had reached record levels in California and forecasters are warning they could go even higher.
