Start working on your mullet as new campaign wants to bring back 'Fun House'

With 90s nostalgia now a commodity, a crowdfunding initiative has launched to create a fully immersive experience based on the CITV kids gameshow Fun House.

Running from 1989 to 1999, the quiz saw young contestants answering trivia questions, getting messy with gunge-filled balloons, racing go-karts, all while Pat Sharp’s incredible mullet guided them through the show.

Both Sharp and Melanie and Martina Grant, the twin sisters who acted as his sidekicks, are onboard for the attempted revival, featuring in the IndieGoGo campaign page.

According to the video below, the campaign is seeking to raise £650,000 (€740,000) in order to outfit a warehouse with an adult-sized version of the titular Fun House. With a month to go, the Destination Entertainment-led proposal has raised more than £14,500, with 98% of the goal still unaccounted for.

The description on the page reads: “You can make the dream of being a part of FunHouse a reality and help to re-run the fun for REAL! Pledge the support in exchange for tickets and perks and re-connect with your inner child. Immerse yourself in warm nostalgic memories and help to #BringBackFunHouse.”

The post added: “Let’s rewind to a time when the biggest, brightest, wackiest, gameshow to hit our TV screens – Fun House – made its debut on CITV in February 1989 and went on to entertain a generation of children during its decade-long run.”

According to the IndieGoGo page, anyone with pockets deep enough to donate £2,000 to the project will also have the honour of having Pat Sharp and the Grant twins hosting their turn at the game.

For those feeling the pinch, however, a donation of £10 will still see a personal touch from Sharp – with donors receiving a plastic ball with his autograph.
