Gardaí appeal for witnesses to Carlow stabbing

A 22-year-old man was injured during a suspected aggravated assault yesterday

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a stabbing incident in Carlow yesterday afternoon.

Officers responded to a suspected aggravated burglary and serious assault at an apartment at the Riverdale complex in Haymarket, Carlow at around 2:45pm yesterday.

A 22-year-old man received suspected stab wounds during the incident.

He was taken by ambulance to St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and investigations are ongoing.

Speaking this afternoon, Garda Superintendent Gerard Redmond appealed for any potential witnesses who may have heard or seen anything in the vicinity of the apartment complex between the hours of 1pm and 3pm yesterday to come forward.
