Actress, singer, entrepreneur - Cher is a woman of many talents, and now she can add Broadway to her list.

The 'Believe' singer has confirmed a musical based on her life is to be released in 2018.

In a tweet, she said she "just got off phone w/Writer & Director of musical" - adding that there will be a theatre performance "with actors, dancers, singers" on Broadway next year.

The New York Post says Jason Moore, known for 'Pitch Perfect', will direct.

It is reported that three different actresses will portray Cher at various points in her life.

Following an apparent read-through of the show in January, she tweeted: "Just walked Of the musical. I sobbed & laughed, & I was prepared not 2like it.  Audience clapped after songs & gave it standing ovation".

The singer was awarded a Billboard Icon Award in May, during which she performed some of her biggest hits - including 'Turn Back Time' in full '80s costume.

"So, I've wanted to do what I do since I was four years-old," she told the crowd in Las Vegas.

"And I've been doing it for 53 years. That is not an applause thing, I'm 71 yesterday. And I can do a five-minute plank, okay? Just saying."

Cher has won almost every award you can in the entertainment industry: an Academy Award, Emmy, three Golden Globes and a Grammy.

She is just a Tony Award away from achieving EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) status - which is considered the ‘grand slam’ of American show business.
