Vegans in South Dublin have reason to rejoice this Friday morning, as the Happy Pear twins announce their plans to finally move into the county.

David and Stephen Flynn are set to open their first Dublin café and food shop in Clondalkin this summer.

It will be based in the new Round Tower Visitor Centre and will become the company's flagship operation. The Happy Pear will also be the operator in charge of running the centre.

The outlet is set to include a terraced dining area, public garden and gallery space.

Some 20 staff are expected to be hired, including full-time and part-time positions.

Seating 60, the cafe will offer free bowls of porridge to customers every morning.

The brothers said in a statement:

"We're really looking forward to making healthy food even more accessible in South Dublin County and to making a positive impact on the local community and economy by providing exciting new employment opportunities.

"We can't wait to open the doors and meet everyone from the community, and of course, breakfast is on us – we'll continue our long-standing tradition of providing free, organic porridge every morning in the new cafe."

Earlier this month, The Happy Pear announced plans to open two new locations in the Dublin area in 2017. It also revealed the third Happy Pear cookbook will be published in spring 2018. The Flynn twins' second book, The World of the Happy Pear, was named 'Cookbook of the Year' at the Irish Book Awards in November.
