Tottenham Hotspur plan to have moved into their new stadium in time for kick-off in the 2018/19 season and the club is unlikely to take the "White Hart Lane" name with them.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to abandon the traditional moniker of its current stadium in order to finance the team's new 61,000-seater home.
According to The Times of London, he hopes that branding the stadium with a sponsor could generate £400m to offset the cost of construction.
The Premier League side forecast that the new ground will ultimately cost them £750m, some £350m more than original estimates made when they first broke ground on the Northumberland Development Project.
Spurs have already agreed to lease the venue to at least two NFL International Series per season at the stadium, capitalising on the growing popularity of live American football in Britain. A retractable pitch will also allow concerts to be held at the venue.
In contrast, The Times also reports that Chelsea will opt to retain the "Stamford Bridge" name once renovations on their home ground is completed.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will personally fund the £500m project, which will turn Chelsea's stadium into a 60,000-seater.
London rivals Arsenal already play their games in the Emirates Stadium, having signed a £100m, 15-year naming deal with the Dubai airline for their new ground back in 2004.
Five years ago, the deal was extended to 2028, as Emirates also paid £150m to put its branding on Arsenal shirts until 2019.
Other sponsored stadiums in the PL include Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium, Hull's KCOM, Leicester's King Power, Stoke's bet365 Stadium and Swansea's Liberty Stadium.
