How to turn old photos into digital files

It's always good to have a back-up

If you're anything like me, chances are you have a drawer filled with old photos; memories captured before the time of smartphones and cloud storage. Google has produced an app that makes it incredibly easy to digitise these images. This ensures that your precious photos are securely stored.

PhotoScan - Scanner by Google Photos is available for free on both iOS and Android. This allows users to capture images of physical photos, without the glare that can often come from glossy images.

The app is very easy to use. Simply open it and hover your phone over the image you wish to digitise. Pressing the 'shoot' button will capture the image. Users are then prompted to place the camera over four AR circles. This ensure the photo is fully captured.

The photos are stored within the app interface. It's possible to share them onto your Dropbox, Google Drive or any other storage option.
