Former Irish Life & Permanent chair Gillian Bowler dies

Irish businesswoman Gillian Bowler has died.

She was the former managing director of Budget Travel, as well as chair of Irish Life & Permanent.

Ms Bowler set up the package holiday company in 1975 with her husband, Harry Sydner.

In 2010, she launched a new travel company for the Irish market - clickandgo.com.

It is understood she had been ill for some time.

A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday morning.

She is survived by her husband, mother, sister, step-daughter and grandson.
