The British Prime Minister is facing renewed pressure to guarantee the rights of EU citizens living in the UK.

Theresa May will host a special summit with her Polish counterpart as part of an effort to build alliances ahead of negotiations to leave the EU.

But Beata Szydlo has warned any co-operation will require assurances over the rights of more than 800,000 Polish people living in the UK.

Mrs May, speaking ahead of the summit, said she was determined to ensure Brexit "will not weaken our relationship" as she spoke of a "new chapter" in UK-Polish relations.

The online equivalent of Black Friday takes place today - 1 in 3 brands are offering discounts for Cyber Monday.

Irish bargain hunters expected to spend an extra €53m online according to Core Media's research.

People are being reminded to know their consumer rights and to buy from reputable websites.

Minister for Communications Denis Naughten has taken this opportunity to enhance their online offerings: "Around the world, people are getting ready for Christmas by getting online. Irish companies offer world-class products and services, found nowhere else. Cyber Monday is the perfect day for them to capture the interest of new customers around the world, and I encourage all our small businesses to take full advantage of this.

"In the recent Budget I secured €3m for the 'Trading Online Voucher Scheme', which is being led by my Department.  It is specifically targeted to help small businesses increase their online sales and exports. For qualifying small businesses, grants of up to €2,500 are available to help them get online and get selling."

Tourism will be worth over €5bn to Ireland for 2016 - and details of Tourism Ireland's 2017 marketing plan to promote the country overseas are being launched today.

Tourism Ireland aims to build on this year’s performance and to increase overseas tourism revenue across the island by 4.5% in 2017 - growing to €5.7bn.

This year is set to be a record year for Irish tourism with 10.5 million people visiting the island.

Tourism Ireland says that the Irish 'brand' remains strong - it will target potential visitors in North America and Mainland Europe with a major new marketing campaign.

A €70,000 fund to get Irish people focused on growing their own food is being launched today.

The 'Energia Get Ireland Growing' initiative is aimed at putting food at the heart of communities.

The Energia Get Ireland Growing Fund will be split across three categories, ‘Sow’, ‘Grow’ and ‘Harvest’ with awards ranging from €500 to €2,000.

The funding pool is now open to any community group, school, NGO or Not for Profit, community garden or allotment group, GIY group, hospital, crèche, direct provision centre, men’s shed or any group who grows their own food, or wants to grow food and wants to promote growing food.
