UK restaurant chain COSMO is Dublin-bound and set to create more than 150 new jobs in the Irish capital over the next 18 months.

First up, it arrives in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. Its 280-seater premises will open in early December and provide 60 positions in west Dublin.

The Liffey Valley outlet will offer global cuisine and feature live cooking stations which will showcase the Japanese art of teppanyaki, involving cooking food on an iron griddle in front of the customer.

Two further restaurants in the city will then follow, the company announced this morning.

Tanaiste Frances Fitzgerald said of COSMO's plans:

"I am delighted to welcome these 60 jobs to Liffey Valley and to the Dublin area, and pleased that COSMO decided to locate their first restaurant outside of the UK and Northern Ireland here in Liffey Valley.

"This is another welcome investment in Liffey Valley, creating jobs for local people and families throughout the west Dublin area.

"This investment and creation of such a large number of new jobs, shows great confidence in the area.

"I wish the management and staff the best of success, in particular in the build up to Christmas, which is always a popular time to enjoy a meal out with friends and family."

COSMO regional director Bock Liang commented:

"We have been inundated with enquiries by our Dublin fans visiting the Belfast restaurant asking when we were bringing the restaurant concept to Dublin.

"We spent about six years looking for a suitable location and are delighted that finally we will be opening the doors in a few weeks’ time.

"It’s a very exciting time of expansion for the COSMO Restaurant group, with more new openings in the UK and we are also planning more Dublin locations in the city centre and South Dublin in the next 18 months."
