The typical cost of buying a house in Ireland has risen by nearly 8% in the last 12 months, according to the latest Daft.ie property report

It found that the national average asking price in the third quarter of 2016 was €221,000, up from €205,000 a year ago.

Annual inflation has reached 7.6% nationwide, compared to 6.1% six months ago and 15.5% at the start of 2015.

If you cheat slightly and add an extra €4,000 to the national average you can nab this two bedroom terrace in Phibsborough, Dublin 7 for €225,000 (it was previously listed with an asking price of €235,000).

It's described as needing "some refurbishment" and is situated next to DIT's new Grangegorman Campus.

Roscommon

On the other end of the price scale, Roscommon has been highlighted by Daft as the county with the lowest residential property prices. This detached house with six bedrooms and five bathrooms is listed for €195,000.

The posting says it is "awash with space" and located 135km from the capital and 10km from the village Rooskey on the Shannon.

It is situated on 0.75 acres - and houses 3,200 sq ft.

Sligo had the second lowest average prices. This modern bungalow is for sale for €200,000 (having been originally put up for sale for €175,000).
