It works just like the food delivery service
Deliveroo has announced it will partner with alcohol retailers Baggot St Wines, Fresh The Good Food Market and Galway Bay Brewery to deliver alcohol to your door.
Deliveroo customers can now order wines from Dublin based independent wine specialist Baggot St Wines, Fresh The Good Food Market from their in-house wine concession The Wine Barrel and Galway Bay Brewery with delivery times set to be around 20 minutes.
The service, which has also been launched in the UK today, will work identically to Deliveroo’s food delivery; alcohol merchants will be provided with a tablet in which orders can be processed through the Deliveroo app. Nearby riders will collect the order from staff and deliver the order to customers, in an average of 20 minutes. Deliveroo began trialing standalone alcohol merchants on the platform in spring 2016 and noted strong consumer demand.
Managing Director of Baggot St Wines, Garret Connolly, commented: “Deliveroo offers us a really simple and effective way to deliver our excellent craft beers and wines to our local customer base. Before using Deliveroo we were unable to offer an on-demand delivery service, and like many independent merchants we didn't have the resources or manpower to make it happen. But thanks to Deliveroo we've been able to increase our service offering and clientele which is fantastic!”
Oliver Dewhurst, Country Manager for Deliveroo Ireland said: “Following our successful trial earlier this year, our alcohol offering has proven to be very popular with our Dublin based customers. Baggot St Wines and Galway Bay Brewery are perfect launch partners for us offering great food pairings with wine and craft beer for meals ordered on Deliveroo. We’re really excited about growing our alcohol partners over the coming months across Galway, Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Belfast, so watch this space.”
