There is good news on the jobs front in the south east this morning. Over 200 jobs have been announced for Waterford by the Taoiseach and the Jobs Minister.

Nypro is to establish a Medical Device Manufacturing facility in the city. The new positions to be created are healthcare automation engineers and technicians, healthcare quality engineers and technicians, operations managers, program managers, team leaders and operators.

Recruitment has already started and applications can be made immediately. The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

The new facility will manufacture respiratory and injectable devices for global healthcare and pharmaceutical customers.

'Creativity & drive of our Ireland team'

James O'Gorman is Vice President of Drug Delivery and Diagnostics with Nypro. "Our latest growth phase is built upon the skills, work ethic, creativity and drive of our Nypro Ireland team" he said. "We now plan to create over 200 positions in Waterford to manufacture complex respiratory and injection devices for our pharmaceutical customers worldwide" he added.

Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton said "Today's announcement that Nypro, a world-leading company with established operations in Ireland, is locating a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Waterford with the creation of over 200 high-end jobs is an enormous boost for the region".

Nypro has operations in 10 countries and has operated in Bray since 1980.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said this news is a vote of confidence for the south-east.
