The basketball superstar has signed a lifetime deal with the sports company
LeBron James has signed a new deal with Nike that is believed to be the biggest in the history of the company.
The basketball superstar is set for life after signing a lifetime deal with Nike, that will ensure that he still has involvement with them long after he's retired from the game.
The mega deal, believed to be the biggest signed with any individual athlete in the history of the company, could see him start up his own brand under the Nike logo, in the same way that Michael Jordan has done.
Speaking after practice on Monday night, James described the deal as a "partnership" rather than simply endorsement and said "It's been an unbelievable time for myself and my family, and I'm just grateful that Nike and Phil Knight, and everyone over there just believed in a skinny 18-year-old kid from Akron, Ohio, and I'm happy to be a part of such a great company".
James has been with Nike since leaving high school, as he was one of the few players that was talented enough to move to the top league without going to college, and stated that he had never even considered switching and signing with anyone else: "I'm Nike and swoosh for the rest of my life".
