Renowned astronomer Patrick Moore passes away

British astronomer and broadcaster Sir Patrick Moore has died aged 89.

Friends say he passed away peacefully at his home this afternoon.

Research by Sir Patrick was used by US and the Russians in their space programmes.

Moore presented BBC's 'Sky At Night' for 50 years which makes him the longest-running host of the same TV show ever.
