Gardai in Galway are seeking public assistance in identifying the body of a man recovered from the River Corrib on Saturday.

He was 6'2" in height, of medium build with grey-receding hair with a red/brown tinge and grey stubble with a hint of red.

Gardai say he has a weathered complexion consistent with spending a large amount of time outdoors.

He wore a black t-shirt with a picture of an eagle on the front, and black combat trousers which are both from Penneys.

Death treated as tragic accident

He was also wearing size-12 black Oakley trainers and had a brown wooden rosary beads with 'Medjugore' written on the cross.

Gardai are treating his death as a tragic incident.

The man has no scars, tattoos or piercings.

Anyone who may have information on his identity is asked to contact Gardaí at Galway Garda Station on 091-538000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
