He is a god-like figure in Portugal, and Cristiano Ronaldo's sister has compared to the Portugal captain to Jesus Christ.

Ronaldo was substituted in the first half of the Euro 2016 Final against France, when he suffered a knee injury after being tackled by Dmitri Payet. Despite efforts to remain on the field, Ronaldo was eventually substituted and replaced by Ricardo Quaresma.

The 31-year-old returned to the sidelines as extra-time began and was a noticeable figure in the technical area as the game entered its final minutes.

His sister Katia Aveiro has compared the star to Jesus Christ's death on the cross. On an Instagram post congratulating her brother and the team she made the lofty comparison.

"I knew that just as Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross for a better world... Cristiano shed tears for the pain of not being able to fight with his companions to the end for his beloved homeland".

Humilty clearly runs through the family...
