WATCH: Iceland fans celebrate as they record famous victory over England

It will be remembered as one of the biggest shocks in the history of the European Championships

Fans in Iceland celebrated a hugely unexpected victory on Monday night as they recorded one of the biggest upsets in recent memory.

A historic win looked unlikely after they went behind to an early Wayne Rooney penalty put Iceland ahead, but they responded in fantastic style with an immediate equaliser from Sigurdsson, before taking the lead through Sigthorsson.

While the England fans have taken to social media to tear their team to pieces, the Iceland fans could hardly believe what they had just seen, as they celebrated both in the stadium and back home, where they had gathered at fan zones and in public squares to watch a truly historic moment. 

 

There were senes of delirious joy in the stadium as well, as the players struggled to soak in the magnitured of their achievement.
