"The worst defeat in our history": Twitter reacts as England go out to Iceland

Iceland overcame the heavy favourites and progress to the quarter finals.

Without doubt, the biggest shock of the tournament took place on Monday night as England's ticket home from the European Championships was stamped by two Iceland goals. 

Despite having the better team on paper and taking the lead through a Wayne Rooney penalty, Iceland responded minutes later through Sigurdsson and then took the lead shortly afterwards through Sigthorsson and confidently defended their advantage through to the final whistle

The reaction on social media was harsh to say the least, as pundits and fans alike tore the team apart for what they deemed to be a humiliation at the hands of one of the tournament's minnows.
