The Boys in Green returned to Dublin airport on Monday to a heroes' welcome
After defeat to France on Sunday sealed their fate, the Boys in Green returned to home soil at Dublin airport on Monday afternoon.
Waiting for them when they arrived were a huge crowd of fans, as well as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross, who welcomed them back with a few words praising their performance at the airport.
As they emerged to meet the public, Robbie Keane stopped to make a short speech saying "I couldn't ask for better players to play with [...] these players are desperate to make the country proud and they've done that. It makes me very, very happy as the captain of this country to say that, because it brings tears to my eyes and makes me feel like a very proud Irishman.

"The journey is only beginning with these young players," he added as the crowd erupted into applause.
