Shane Long admits it's a "weird feeling" to be saying goodbye to members of the Ireland camp as Martin O'Neill reveals his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016.

The Southampton striker is among the travelling party to France but some of the players who featured in the 2-1 defeat to Belarus tonight have ultimately been left out.

They include David McGoldrick and Darron Gibson and given the closeness of the squad, Long told Newstalk's Oisin Langan that it is a "weird feeling".

"It's weird now afterwards, a few of the lads not travelling and we're all fairly close in the squad," he said after the full-time whistle at his old stomping ground of Turner's Cross in Cork.

"It's a weird feeling because I feel bad for the lads that aren't travelling. But I'm looking forward to being part of it all."
